HUGHESVILLE, PA – On Saturday, Cairn's Women's Cross Country team continued to dominate, competing in the United East Preview Meet, hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The defending United East Runner of the Week, sophomore
Clarisse Hayden (Bangkok, Thailand / International Community School), earned yet another first place finish, her second first place finish of the year and third of her career, finishing this 6K race at 26:51.9, thirty seconds faster than the competition. This was Hayden's ninth straight top twenty-five finish, with seven of her last nine races landing her on the podium.
Hayden continued Cairn's winning streak in the United East Preview Meet, with a Highlander runner winning the race for the second year in a row, previously won by junior
AyliGrace Munro (Bar Harbor, ME / Mount Desert Island HS) who finished Saturday in thirteenth place at 26:51.9. Placing right behind her was senior
Erin Wilson (Southampton, PA / Calvary Christian Academy), finishing at 31:25.4. Junior
Morgan Steele (Bowie, MD / Estele Christian) finished at 33:34.7.
Finishing up the course was senior
Amber Farrell (Philadelphia, PA / Franklin Towne Charter) at 34:55.5, sophomore
Casey Simpson (Ewing, NJ / Passaic County Technical Institute) at 36:00.4 even, and junior
Emma Lowe (New Cumberland, PA / West Shore Christian) crossing the finish line at 37:36.1.
As a team, the Highlanders placed third.
Next Saturday, September 21, Cairn Cross Country will head to Lorimer Park for the Abington Invitational.
