La Plume, PA - Cairn (2-4-6, 0-3-1 United East) and Keystone College (5-6-1, 3-1 United East) were scoreless through over 60 minutes of play, but a Giants goal in the 62nd minute gave Keystone a lead that Cairn could not match. The Giants added one more goal to put the match away in the 88th minute for a final of 2-0.
Senior keeper Xander Jakeway (Lancaster, CA / Quartz Hill) recorded three saves in the first period, as the Giants had five shots attempted to Cairn's 1 in the first period. The two second period goals by Keystone were too much to overcome, as the Highlanders still seek their first conference win. Jakeway finished with five saves, and Cairn tied Keystone with seven shots attempted in the second half.
The Highlanders return to the Stillman Athletic Complex this Saturday, October 10, for their United East Conference match up with Wilson College (1-7-2, 1-2 United East) at 3:30pm.
