SB: Highlanders Split Double Header With Falcons

Langhorne, PA - Highlanders bounce back in Game 2 to split double header.

Game 1:
Cedar Crest (15-17 / 5-9 UNITED EAST) jumped out to an early lead scoring in the top of the 1st inning to go up 1-0. In the bottom of the 2nd Freshman 3rd Baseman Jessica Tracy (Lincoln Park, NJ) delivered a 2-out double but Cairn (7-21 / 4-10 UNITED EAST) failed to capitalize and left the inning still scoreless. The Falcons used a big 3rd inning to extend the lead to 6-0. In the bottom of the 4th the Highlanders loaded the bases for Sophomore Shortstop Aerynne Mays (Easton, PA) who came up clutch punching a 2 RBI single into centerfield. The Highlander offense was stifled after Mays' single however and the Falcons escaped the inning with no more damage. In the bottom of the 3rd Cairn kept pouring on by adding another 3 runs to go up 6-0. In the top of the 4th Cedar Crest responded with 2 runs of their own to cut the lead to 4. In the bottom half of the inning freshman shortstop Brooke Mulligan drove in Mays from 2nd with a single. In the top of the 6th inning Senior pitcher Sydney Wright (Souderton, PA / Souderton Area) struck out the lead-of hitter, this was Wright's 100th career collegiate strikeout.
