Annville, PA - In a match where Lebanon Valley College controlled the stat sheet with a 19-8 (12-4 on goal) shot advantage and a 10-4 corner kick
advantage, Cairn left the match with a 3-3 tie.
The Dutchmen got on the scoreboard early (2'), but the Cairn (2-1-1, 0-0 United East) offense put enough pressure on
the Dutchmen defense to force a Lebanon Valley (2-1-1, 0-0 MAC Freedom) mistake, tying the game back up 1-1 in the
sixth minute. Roughly ninety seconds later, senior forward
Alijah Miller (Monroe, NC /
Homeschool) registered a goal for the third straight match, granting the Highlanders a 2-1 lead
seven minutes into the match. Two quick responses by Lebanon Valley (8', 11') were saved by
Cairn keeper
Xander Jakeway (Lancaster, CA / Quartz Hill) to maintain the 2-1 lead, which
would remain the score at the break.
Miller made his impact once again, this time with an assist to teammate
Elijah Ejiofor (Toulouse,
France / Northampton CC) to extend the Cairn lead to 3-1 in the 48th minute. The Highlanders
were able to stave off the Dutchmen for twenty more minutes, but Lebanon Valley answered
with two goals in succession (66', 71') to knot the match up at 3 a piece. In the final twenty
minutes, Jakeway prevented the Dutchmen from completing the comeback with an additional
five saves, but Cairn would not get a chance to regain the lead, ending the match in a 3-3 draw.
Cairn (2-1-2, 0-0 United East) continues their 2026 campaign this Wednesday, September 16, at
4pm at Gwynedd Mercy (1-3, 0-0 Atlantic East).
