Cairn University (2-0 / 0-0 United East) got out to a quick 4-1 advantage over Delaware Valley (0-2 / 0-0 MAC Freedom) fueled by a pair of kills by sophomore outside hitter
Marah Lehman (Chambersburg, PA / Chambersburg). Lehman went on to collect 5 more kills in the first set en route to a 25-22 win for the Highlanders. Cairn also received 2 kills and a block from junior middle blocker
Maddie Shackelford (Warrington, PA / Plumstead Christian School) in the opening set.
The Highlanders got off to an even better start in set 2, building a 7-1 lead to start the frame. Shackelford gave the Highlanders 2 aces and teamed up with Lehman for a block during this stretch. The Aggies rallied and were able to tie the game at 12 before the Highlanders strung together 5 consecutive points including an ace and a kill by senior defensive specialist/outside hitter
Bridget Dahn (Smithsburg, MD Heritage Academy). Cairn remained in control until the end of the set when sophomore opposite
Bella Manthe (Manila, Philippines / Faith Academy) assisted on a Shackelford kill to claim the set.
Set 3 started off with yet another Cairn hot streak, the home team won the first 6 points including another ace by Dahn. Cairn kept their momentum, building a 17-6 lead behind 2 kills apiece by Lehman and Manthe. Senior middle hitter
Madison Delp (York, PA Clarks Summit University) contributed 2 late kills to the Highlander cause including the kill that sealed the match.
Cairn returns to action Wednesday September 9th when they go on the road forthe first time in the 2026 season to take on Gwynedd Mercy.
