Haverford, PA - Cairn drops a pair of Matches in Haverford Tri-match. 

Match 1 Cairn vs. Haverford
Cairn (3-2 / 0-0 United East) started out by trading points with Haverford (5-1 / 0-0 Centennial), Cairn rattled off 5 straight points, but Haverford was able to respond with a 5-point streak of their own. The Highlanders then responded with a 4-0 run to regain the lead. Haverford kept the game close until Cairn pushed out their lead to 21-17. Haverford battled back and took control closing the match by winning 5 consecutive points to go up 1-0. 

In set 2 the Highlanders took the first 3 points behind a kill and an ace by senior outside hitter Bridget Dahn (Smithsburg, MD Heritage Academy). Cairn kept control early, building a 9-4 lead over Haverford, but the Fords battled back and tied the set at 10. The match remained close, with the score becoming level at 17,19 and 20 before Haverford began pulling away and won the second set 25-23. 

The 3rd set saw sophomore outside hitter Marah Lehman (Chambersburg, PA Chambersburg) score 2 early kills, but the Fords controlled the set eventually taking the 3rd set 25-16 to sweep the Highlanders. 

Match 2 Cairn vs. LVC
A kill by Lehman and an ace by Dahn got the first set of Cairn's match against Lebanon Valley (4-3 / 0-0 MAC) off to a good start. The Dutchmen rallied to build a 6-2 lead, but Cairn surged to go up 12-10 behind 3 consecutive aces by sophomore opposite Bella Manthe (Manila, Philippines Faith Academy). Midway through the set Cairn went on a streak, winning 6 of 8 points including a kill by junior middle blocker Maddie Shackelford (Warrington, PA Plumstead Christian School) and a block by Shackelford and Dahn. LVC found their stride and won 8 of the final 9 points to take set 1 25-22.

2 kills by Lehman helped the Highlanders build a 5-2 advantage to start the 2nd set. LVC rallied and found themselves leading Cairn 14-9. he Highlanders battled back behind another pair of kills by Lehman to cut the lead to 1. The Dutchmen pushed the lead back out and took set 2 25-18. 

LVC jumped out to an early lead in set number 3 and did not look back. Lehman recorded 3 kills for the Highlanders to try and erase the difference, but the Dutchmen kept their foot on the gas and closed out the match by winning set 3 25-15.

The Highlanders return to action on Tuesday September 15th when they go on the road to play Centenary.
